Description
Cohiba Novedosos LCDH
The Cohiba Novedosos LCDH is a standout addition to the Cohiba lineup, marking a significant moment in the history of this prestigious Cuban cigar brand. Officially launched in 2019, this exclusive release is available only through La Casa del Habano (LCDH) and Habanos Specialist retailers. With its unique vitola, exceptional construction, and complex flavor profile, the Novedosos has quickly gained popularity among collectors and seasoned aficionados alike.
A Unique Format with Exceptional Craftsmanship
The Novedosos is presented in the Robustos No. 2 format, measuring 156 millimeters in length with a 50-ring gauge. This size offers a slightly longer smoking time than a traditional robusto, allowing for a slow and satisfying draw that reveals the intricacies of Cohiba’s expertly aged tobacco. Like all Cohibas, the Novedosos is made from the finest leaves sourced from Cuba’s Vuelta Abajo region, and undergoes an additional fermentation process exclusive to the brand. This results in a remarkably smooth and well-balanced smoke.
What truly sets the Novedosos apart is its elegant presentation. Each cigar is housed in a high-gloss lacquered box of 25, embossed with the iconic LCDH insignia. The packaging not only underscores the product’s exclusivity but also adds to its desirability as a collector’s item.
The Cohiba Novedosos, introduced in September 2019 at the Habanos Festival, marks a milestone as the first brand-new vitola from Cohiba in decades. This exclusive La Casa del Habano (LCDH) special release combines:
- Vitola: Robustos No. 2 (6″ × 50 ring gauge; 156 mm)
- Limited Production: Only sold through Habanos Specialist and LCDH shops worldwide
- Flavor Profile: Medium-full body with cedar, caramel, walnut, stewed pear, and hints of Sauternes sweetnessThis hand-rolled masterpiece is crafted with tobacco from Cuba’s Vuelta Abajo and undergoes Cohiba’s signature triple fermentation process, delivering a smooth yet complex smoking experience.
Tasting Notes and Smoking Experience
From the moment you light a Cohiba Novedosos, the experience is rich and layered. The initial draws deliver flavors of toasted cedar and soft floral notes, followed by transitions into caramel, walnut, and mild spice. As the cigar progresses, you may notice underlying hints of stewed pear and creamy vanilla, creating a refined and nuanced profile.
Cigar Aficionado awarded the Novedosos a 92-point rating, praising its complexity and sweetness. The burn is generally consistent, the ash firm, and the draw smooth—though some cigars may display a slightly wavy burn, which is not uncommon among Cuban cigars.
